At One Stop Hire, our commitment to supporting the community goes far beyond the everyday. Recently, we had the privilege to contribute a charity auction prize, an effort rooted in a truly inspiring story, one of resilience, hope, and recovery.
This event also held special meaning for our own team. Our Credit Control Manager, Jackie Taylor, who has been with One Stop Hire since day one, played an important role in helping bring this support forward. Her daughter, Ellie, has been closely involved too, showing the same compassion and drive that Jackie has brought to the company from the very beginning.
Zac’s Story of Strength & Resilience
On April 6th, 2017, a family’s life changed forever when their son, Zac, faced a sudden and frightening diagnosis. After years of concern over a potential brain tumour, Zac was rushed for emergency brain surgery. The operation, lasting over eight hours, left him paralysed on his left side. Yet, despite this immense challenge, Zac displayed extraordinary strength, persevering through radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and multiple surgeries, always determined not to let his diagnosis define him.
Zac’s journey of recovery was as uplifting as it was difficult. Remarkably, just five months after his surgery, Zac was able to return to work. In June 2018, even while still receiving treatment, he married his partner. Most recently, the couple celebrated the arrival of their beautiful daughter, marking a joyful new chapter in their family’s story.
The fundraising event, which brought together generous donations and auction prizes, was a tribute to stories like Zac’s and to the tireless, life-changing work carried out every day by the NHS, The Christie Hospital, and The Brain Tumour Charity. It was a night dedicated to celebrating resilience, raising vital funds for medical research and treatment, and giving hope to families facing similar battles.
By participating, donating, and coming together for this cause, everyone involved played a part in making a lasting difference. The funds raised will support future research and pioneering treatments, ensuring more positive outcomes for patients and their families.
