One Stop Hire was proud to welcome The Rt Hon Darren Jones MP, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, to our Bristol depot as we celebrated 16 years in business.
Mr Jones was joined by Mark Bradshaw, Director of Public Affairs at the Hire Association Europe (HAE), for a wider discussion on the future of the hire industry, government policy priorities, and how the sector continues to evolve to meet sustainability targets.
Discussing the Future of Hire
During the visit, our CEO Steve Hitchen outlined how the hire industry is playing a key role in decarbonisation and reducing environmental impact, through modern hire practices that minimise waste and extend the lifespan of high-quality equipment.
Steve also discussed the circular economy benefits of the hire model, ensuring assets remain in productive use for longer while helping customers reduce embodied carbon across their projects.

Supporting Skills and Safety
Lewis Metcalfe, from One Stop Hire’s Safety Training team, showcased how our accredited training programmes support customers across construction, infrastructure, utilities, and related sectors. From safety awareness to specialised plant training, we aim to help customers work safely, efficiently, and responsibly.
Demonstrating Full-Service Capability
As part of the visit, Steve provided a demonstration of One Stop Hire’s full-service offering, which combines tool and plant hire, sales and safety training. The visit highlighted how One Stop Hire continues to invest in sustainable operations, innovative technology, and people development to serve customers nationwide.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Jones on his consistuency visit and of course Mark Bradshaw from the HAE to Bristol,” said CEO Steve Hitchen. “Discussions like this are essential as we look ahead to the future of the hire industry, one that’s cleaner, safer, and better connected to customer needs.”
One Stop Hire continues to lead the way in supporting the UK’s construction and infrastructure sectors with a sustainable, safety-first approach to hire.
