- A structured induction session, this introduces new starters to the business, our history and our values.
- Health & Safety training programme.
- Role-specific training and regular one-to-ones, during which your role responsibilities will be discussed, and a tailored training plan put in place to receive all the necessary training to perform your tasks with confidence.
In-house training
As part of our ongoing commitment to the learning and development of our employees, we offer various types of in-house training that is delivered by a range of experienced professionals.
This aligns with our commitment to our third company values – Personalised Service – ensuring every team member has the expertise to meet the needs of our customers. The in-house training covers:
- Manufacturer-led equipment training for a deeper understanding of the equipment we offer.
- Customer service development training that will allow you to improve your communication techniques, and equip you with problem-solving skills to help understand customer needs to be able to offer them the best experience from start to finish.
- Every member of our team will have an IDP (Individual Development Plan), a framework that would support their learning & development and career goals.
- Our bespoke in-house ‘Management Development Training’ has been designed to enhance teamwork, upskill and develop our managers for them to be the best in their role.
E-Learning
Another type of learning we offer to all of our employees is via an e-learning platform covering many topics from Health & Safety Awareness to Cybersecurity.

Employee success stories
Ellis
Ellis joined One Stop Hire in 2023 as Maintenance Support. The following year, he joined our Lifting Division and became a Lifting Engineer Trainee. After successfully passing his LEEA exams, Ellis is now a fully qualified Lifting Equipment Engineer – well done Ellis!
Gary
Gary came to One Stop Hire in 2021 as a Driver. In 2022 he was offered to be trained as a Small Tool Fitter and successfully completed all of his training. In 2024 Gary started learning the trade of Lifting Equipment Engineer and passed his LEEA exams with flying colours – we are very proud of Gary’s achievements!
Josh
Josh joined the company as an apprentice when he was 16. He worked hard over many years to learn the job, and we can proudly say that after completing all of his LEEAs, Josh is now a Lifting Equipment Engineer.
Flyn
Flyn joined the company in 2019 as a Hire Controller and Rental Operations Apprentice which allowed him to learn the skills he needed for his work on the Hire Desk. In 2023 Flyn became a Depot Manager and is now in charge of his own team and a whole depot!
Oliver
Oliver came to One Stop Hire in 2020, and has done various jobs starting from a Yard Operative and then as a Driver. In 2024, Oliver was offered the role of Hire Desk Manager at one of our depots where he is working side by side with our General Manager, assisting him with everyday jobs at the depot.
Henry
At the beginning of his career, Henry was helping at one of our depots before starting his Business Admin Apprenticeship with us. Having completed it with flying colours, Henry then started working alongside our experienced employees in Sales Direct where he has gained invaluable experience and knowledge of the industry and sales. Due to all his contribution to the business, Henry recently has been promoted to the role of Commercial Manager.
Crossley
Having joined us as a Business Admin Apprentice, Crossley has become a valuable member of our National Hire Desk team. Crossley’s customer service skills are second to none, and our customers are always praising him on how good he is!
Hayley
Hayley joined our company back in May 2022 as a Hire Manager. In recognition for all of her hard-work, talent and commitment during these years, she was very soon promoted and is now running our Total Solutions team.
Jack
Jack joined our Early Careers Academy as a Small Tool Fitter apprentice in 2023. It soon became obvious what this young gentleman is capable of and what he can bring to the team, Jack has since been offered the position of Trainee Account Coordinator.
