Former professional rugby league player, now turned account manager for One Stop Hire, Andy Isherwood, turned back time and played in a charity game for the Leigh Centurions All Stars in aid of Life for a Kid charity.
Andy played 16 years in the sport from the age of 16 up until he was 32. Representing Wigan Warriors/Leigh Centurions/Widnes Vikings/Rochdale Hornets/Swinton Lions and Oldham Roughyheads. Once his playing career ended, Andy found himself working in the tool hire industry and has been with us at One Stop Hire since January.
The All Stars game took place at Sutton Park, home of Leigh Miners Rangers Rugby League Club. The match featured former Leigh players Robbie Hunter-Paul and Gareth Hock. Whilst the All Stars had super league players Keith Senior, Adrian Morley and Wayne Godwin.
The game was all in aid of life for a kid. Life For a Kid was set up in March 2009 with the aim of helping children under the age of 16 by offering funds and equipment to help them lead a better life and to also help children who require lifesaving or life changing operations.
The Life For A Kid Sensory Centre located in Hull has over 30 Registered Special Educational Needs children supporting autism, Asperger, Mowat Wilson Syndrome and more with the following amenities: Soft Play area, Dark Sensory Room, Ball pool & Tactile Feel room and Sensory Gardens.
Speaking about the event, Andy was quoted; “Playing in a charity game like this is a great way to give back to the community and support a good cause. It was an honour to be a part of the Leigh Centurions All Stars and help raise money for Life for a Kid.”

Leigh Centurions ran out winners against the Rugby League All Stars, prevailing 16-14 in a very close fought contest. Unfortunately for us Andy didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet, but he did make a vital pass which led to a game changing try.
The fantastic event raised almost £6150, with One Stop Hire sponsoring Andy and making a donation to Life for a Kid.
