We are excited to share some incredible news. On Tuesday this week (5th Sept), we celebrated the official launch of our One Stop Hire Early Careers Academy. This momentous occasion took place at our Wigan Depot and was attended by a distinguished group of guests as well as some of our latest cohort of new apprentices.
The event was attended by esteemed individuals from various sectors, all of whom share our passion for nurturing young talent and investing in the future workforce. Our notable attendees included:
Martin Ainscough CBE: A prominent figure in the industry.
Danielle Hitchen (One Stop Hire Director): Our very own Occupational Safety and Health Director.
Nicola Hodkinson (Business Service Director from Seddon): A leader in business services.
Chris Selby (Cross Industry Construction Apprenticeship Task Force): An advocate for apprenticeships in construction.
Alan Guthrie (Journalist and Industry Voice): A well-respected industry commentator.
Paul Gaze (CEO of the Hire Association Europe): Leading the way in the hire industry.
Sean Bowman (Chorley Council, Business Engagement Officer): Engaging with businesses for mutual growth.
Alice Abraham (Chorley Council, Business Engagement Officer): A dedicated professional fostering business growth.
David Birchall (Engineering Accessor, Wigan College): An expert in engineering education.
One of the most exciting announcements made during the launch was the appointment of Mike Artingstall as the Apprentice Development Manager. Mike will play a crucial role in overseeing the development of our Small Tool Fitter Apprentices in our purpose-built workshop in Wigan. This appointment underscores our commitment to providing the best training and support for our apprentices.
Our Early Careers Academy is kicking off in the North-West, with plans to extend its reach to the North-East and Midlands in due course. This regional approach allows us to ensure that the program is tailored to the specific needs and opportunities of each area.
The journey has just begun, and we have exciting opportunities waiting for young talents. We still have openings for apprentices in our One Stop Hire Early Careers Academy.
As a reminder, here’s what we offer to all our apprentices:
- A sponsored external training program in a relevant course of their choice.
- Generous rates of pay (above the national minimum wage) and access to all company benefits.
- A dedicated mentor to support them throughout their apprenticeship.
- 3-4 Apprentice Development Days each year held at our head office to promote teamwork and develop core business skills.
- A monthly development review with managers who are genuinely interested in supporting their career growth.
